Volume partner Eric Heiman had a lively discussion with Sarah Kuehl of Einwiller Kuehl about our collaboration on the Brooklyn Basin project—what informed it, how it happened, and how it influenced them both afterwards. To a rapt crowd, basking under the natural light of E/K’s beautiful studio, Eric spoke of how the project crystallized Volume’s overall approach and enriched later work on Harvey Milk Plaza, a tech campus in Pittsburgh, and the recent Eames exhibition. Sarah dug deep into her early obsession with street art and E/K’s recent Mare Island project, still in process. Thanks to ASLA, SEGD, and Design Bay Area for putting this together and getting the word out. Sarah and Eric also finally figured out who introduced them to each other. Whew.
